This rescue is for an active Cornish business, local charity or community project whose online presence does not reflect what it does. An old website, no website at all, unclear information or a difficult enquiry process can all be reasons to nominate.
We are looking for a project where a focused new website could make a practical difference: helping customers get in touch, volunteers get involved or local people find the information they need.
What the selected organisation receives
- A new or substantially redesigned website with up to five core pages.
- Clear, responsive design for phones, tablets and computers.
- Help with the core page copy and straightforward contact or enquiry routes.
- Technical and on-page SEO foundations, plus local visibility guidance.
- Analytics and Search Console setup where appropriate.
- 12 months of standard website hosting and three months of launch support and monitoring.
The design and build are free. There is no requirement to buy monthly SEO. Domain costs and anything outside the package are explained below and agreed before work begins.
Who can be nominated?
Independent businesses primarily based in Cornwall, local charities and active community projects serving Cornwall. Individuals can apply on behalf of their own local business or community project. An existing website is not required.
The project must suit a straightforward website of up to five pages. The owner or authorised representative must agree to take part, supply accurate information and provide feedback during the build.
National chains, franchises, web or marketing agencies, inactive organisations, existing South West SEO clients, and projects run by the promoter or judges or their immediate families are excluded. Personal hobby sites, online shops, membership systems and complex booking or custom platforms are outside this round's scope.
How the rescue is chosen
Eligible nominations are assessed by Chris and an independent reviewer using the same three criteria. The highest combined score receives the rescue. It is not decided by likes, followers or the number of nominations.
Website need · 40 points
How much the current online presence limits access to useful information, trust or contact. Having no website is considered alongside other problems.
Likely benefit · 40 points
How clearly a better website could help the organisation and the people it serves, based on the information provided.
Project readiness · 20 points
Whether the work fits the package and the organisation can supply the information and approvals needed to complete it.
Each reviewer scores all three criteria; their totals are averaged. Ties are settled by the higher average likely-benefit score, then website-need score, then the earliest complete nomination. Duplicate nominations are combined into one entry. Individual scores and unsuccessful nominations are not published.

Keep it simple: a polished pitch will not earn extra points. If you nominate someone else, please let them know. Do not send their private contact details or sensitive personal information. We will ask shortlisted organisations to confirm their participation before judging.
By sending a nomination, you confirm you are aged 18 or over, that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have read the campaign details below. No purchase or mailing-list signup is required.
From nomination to a fresh start
- Review: nominations are checked for eligibility and assessed against the published criteria.
- Agree: the selected organisation confirms the page structure, responsibilities and any costs outside the free package.
- Build: Chris designs and builds the website, with feedback from the organisation.
- Share: with the organisation's agreement, we publish a respectful before-and-after story showing the work and what it helps people do.
Work is intended to start within 30 days of acceptance and normally take 8–12 weeks, depending on the agreed scope and timely feedback.
A few important details
Campaign terms, costs and responsibilities
Promoter and dates. South West SEO, operated by Chris Hackman, 35 Carloggas Grove, St Columb Major, Cornwall, TR9 6RD. Contact: hello@southwestseo.co.uk. This new nomination round opens on 5 October 2026 and closes at 11:59pm UK time on 26 October 2026. Late nominations do not enter this round.
Entry and selection. Nominators and participating representatives must be 18 or over. Entry is free. One entry per organisation; duplicates are combined. The eligibility, scoring and tie-break rules above apply. South West SEO may request evidence and exclude inaccurate, misleading or ineligible entries. An owner or authorised representative must confirm participation before an organisation is judged. The judging panel includes a competent reviewer independent of South West SEO and the entrants; the judges' names are available on request.
One rescue. One eligible organisation receives the package above. It is not transferable and has no cash alternative. The highest-scoring eligible organisation will be contacted by 2 November 2026 and has seven calendar days to confirm acceptance. If it declines, does not respond or cannot meet the stated eligibility or scope, the next-ranked eligible organisation will be contacted. Any revised notification date will be communicated to affected entrants.
Included and excluded. The package includes up to five core pages, agreed core copy improvements, responsive design, SEO foundations, appropriate tracking setup, 12 months of standard hosting from launch and three months of launch support. Domain registration or renewal, paid photography or stock assets, premium licences, advertising, ongoing content or SEO campaigns, ecommerce, advanced booking systems, bespoke integrations, legal copy and accessibility certification are excluded. Optional costs require agreement before they are incurred. There is no obligation to purchase additional services.
After the free period. Hosting beyond the included year, domain charges and any third-party costs will be stated in writing before acceptance. The recipient can decide whether to continue. Ownership and permitted use of the website content, licensed assets, editing access and any platform or transfer limitations will be explained in the project agreement.
Working together. The recipient must provide a main decision-maker, accurate information, suitable assets they have permission to use and timely approvals. The scope and schedule are agreed before work begins. Delays will be discussed rather than assumed to be a failure by the recipient.
Publicity. Acceptance includes reasonable participation in a public before-and-after case study. The organisation can check factual accuracy and approve any quotes or images attributed to it. No private contact details, sensitive information or critical descriptions of unsuccessful nominees will be published. There is no requirement to provide a positive testimonial or a backlink.
Privacy. Nomination information is used to administer the campaign, check eligibility and contact participants, not to add people to a marketing list. Unsuccessful nomination records are normally deleted within 90 days of announcing the recipient. Relevant selected-project records are retained for delivering and administering the work. Results and delivery. Search rankings, traffic, enquiries and revenue are not guaranteed. If circumstances outside the promoter's reasonable control prevent an element being delivered, affected participants will be told and an equivalent alternative discussed. This does not permit arbitrary changes to entry or judging rules. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and do not remove statutory rights.
