A good business should look like one online

Strong Offline.
Held Back Online.

Cornwall is full of skilled, trusted businesses whose online presence does not reflect the work they actually do. This project is for one of them.

It may be a long-established business with no website, an old site that has become difficult to use, or a capable local team that is almost invisible when people search.

01

No Proper Website

Customers rely on social pages, directories or word of mouth because there is no dependable website to visit.

02

An Outdated Experience

The site is slow, broken or awkward on a phone, making a good business feel harder to trust or contact.

03

Hard to Find

The business does excellent work locally, but its services, location and reasons to choose it are unclear online.

The rescue package

More Than a New Coat of Paint

The selected business will receive the practical work needed to create a clearer, faster and more credible online presence, built around real customers and real search behaviour.

Build

A Focused Website

A new or substantially redesigned website with up to five core pages.

Experience

Mobile-first Design

A fast, responsive experience that is clear and easy to use on any screen.

Message

Sharper Website Copy

Key page content refined so customers quickly understand the offer and next step.

Visibility

Local SEO Foundations

Technical, on-page and local signals set up to support relevant Cornwall searches.

Measurement

Tracking and Local Review

Analytics, Search Console and Google Business Profile guidance where appropriate.

Aftercare

Launch Support

Three months of monitoring and support, plus 12 months of standard website hosting.

The aim is a useful business asset, not a quick template swap.

The exact structure will be agreed with the selected business after a discovery session.

Simple, local and transparent

Who Can Apply and How the Business Is Chosen

This is not decided by followers, likes or the most emotional story. Eligible websites are checked against the same published signs of need, so the process remains manageable and consistent.

Eligibility

This Is for Independent Cornwall Businesses

  • An active, independent business primarily based in Cornwall
  • The owner or an authorised manager completes the application
  • The project is suitable for a focused brochure or service website of up to five pages
  • The business can supply information, feedback and approvals promptly
  • The selected business is willing to take part in a public before-and-after case study

National chains, franchises, web or marketing agencies, inactive businesses and projects requiring ecommerce or complex custom systems are not eligible.

Website-need score

Every Eligible Entry Uses the Same Checks

No functioning business website (automatic total) 100
Website unusable on mobile 15
Serious security or indexing issue 10
No proper service or product information 10
No clear Cornwall location or coverage 10
Contact or enquiry route missing or broken 10
Multiple broken pages or links 5
Maximum need score 100

If a functioning website exists, only the applicable checks are added. Individual applicant scores are not published.

Clear tie-break

If businesses have the same score, priority goes to: 1. no functioning website, 2. the longest continuously trading business, then 3. the earliest complete application.

Tell Me About Your Business

What happens next

A Proper Rescue, From First Check to Launch

The highest-scoring eligible business is contacted privately and the scope is checked before acceptance.

Campaign terms The Great Cornish Website Rescue terms and conditions
  1. Promoter. The Great Cornish Website Rescue is promoted by South West SEO, operated by Chris Hackman and based in St Columb Major, Cornwall. Enquiries can be sent to hello@southwestseo.co.uk.
  2. Application period. Applications open on 5 August 2026 and close at 11:59pm British Summer Time on 6 September 2026. Applications received after the closing time will not be considered.
  3. Who may apply. The applicant must be aged 18 or over and be the owner or an authorised manager of an active, independent business primarily based in Cornwall. National chains, franchises, web design or marketing agencies, inactive businesses and projects outside the stated website scope are excluded.
  4. Entry conditions. Entry is free and no purchase is necessary. Only one application per business is permitted. Information supplied must be complete and accurate. South West SEO may request evidence of eligibility and may reject duplicate, misleading, automated or incomplete applications.
  5. Suitable project scope. The business must be suitable for a standard brochure or service website of up to five core pages. Ecommerce, marketplaces, membership systems, complex booking platforms, bespoke web applications and projects requiring substantial custom integrations are outside the rescue scope.
  6. Selection. Each eligible application is manually checked against the website-need score published on this page. A business with no functioning website receives the full 100-point need score. Where eligible businesses have the same score, priority is given first to a business with no functioning website, then to the business that has traded continuously for the longest period, and finally to the earliest complete application. The decision made by applying these rules is final. Individual scores and other applicants' information will not be published.
  7. Notification. South West SEO intends to contact the selected business by 18 September 2026 using the details supplied. The selected business must respond and confirm eligibility within seven calendar days. If it does not respond, is not eligible or cannot proceed within the stated scope, the next eligible business under the same selection rules may be contacted.
  8. Included work. The rescue includes a new or substantially redesigned website of up to five core pages, responsive design, agreed core copy improvements, technical and on-page SEO foundations, local SEO guidance, analytics and Search Console setup where appropriate, three months of post-launch monitoring and support, and 12 months of standard website hosting from launch.
  9. Not included. Unless South West SEO agrees otherwise in writing, the rescue does not include domain registration or renewal, professional photography or video, paid stock assets, premium software or licences, paid advertising, ecommerce, advanced booking systems, ongoing content creation, legal copy, accessibility certification or complex custom development. Any optional third-party charge will be explained and agreed before it is incurred.
  10. Timing and cooperation. Work is intended to begin within 30 days of acceptance and normally take 8 to 12 weeks. Timing depends on the selected business supplying information, assets, feedback and approvals when requested. Material delays may change the schedule or, if the project cannot reasonably proceed, result in the offer passing to the next eligible business.
  11. Case study and publicity. As a condition of accepting the rescue, the selected business agrees to reasonable publicity about the project. This may include its business name, logo, approved images or quotes, the previous online presence and the completed website. Personal contact details will not be published without consent. The business will have the opportunity to check the factual accuracy of the final case study before publication.
  12. Ownership and ongoing costs. Ownership and licensed use of the final website content and assets will be confirmed in the project agreement. Standard hosting is included for 12 months from launch. Any hosting, domain or third-party costs that could apply after the included period will be stated before the project starts, and the business is free to decide whether to continue.
  13. No cash alternative or guaranteed outcome. The rescue is non-transferable and no cash alternative is available. South West SEO does not guarantee search rankings, traffic, enquiries, revenue or any other commercial result.
  14. Changes beyond reasonable control. If circumstances outside South West SEO's reasonable control make the rescue impossible or materially impractical, South West SEO may amend the timetable or replace an element with an equivalent service. Any material change will be communicated fairly to affected applicants.
  15. Personal information. Application information is used to administer the rescue, verify eligibility, contact the selected business and comply with legal obligations. It is not used to add applicants to a newsletter. Unsuccessful application data will normally be deleted within 90 days after the selected business is announced. See the South West SEO Privacy Policy for further information.
  16. Law. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms removes any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Campaign terms prepared for the application window beginning 5 August 2026.

Questions before applying

The Useful Answers

If something about your business or website is unusual, ask before applying. A quick email is enough.

hello@southwestseo.co.uk
Is the website rescue genuinely free?

Yes. The professional work listed in the rescue package and 12 months of standard website hosting are included. Optional third-party costs outside that scope will never be incurred without agreement.

Do I need to have an existing website?

No. Businesses with no functioning website are specifically encouraged to apply and receive the maximum website-need score.

Can I nominate another business?

Please send the page to them instead. The application must come from the business owner or an authorised manager because the selected business needs to agree to the project and case study.

How is the selected business chosen?

Eligible entries are checked against the objective website-need criteria published on this page. There is no public vote and the wording of the application does not earn extra points. Published tie-break rules settle equal scores.

Will the new website rank first on Google?

No ethical SEO provider can guarantee a particular ranking. The rescue creates sound technical, content and local foundations, but rankings and commercial results depend on many factors.

What costs are not included?

Items such as domain renewal, premium licences, professional photography, paid advertising, ecommerce and complex booking or custom systems are outside the standard package. The full terms explain this in more detail.

When will the project start?

The aim is to begin within 30 days of the selected business accepting the rescue. A standard build is expected to take around 8 to 12 weeks, depending on how quickly information and approvals are supplied.
